Pu'er Tea Mountains
The ancient tea gardens of Yunnan where Pu'er tea has been cultivated for centuries. Visit local tea farmers and taste fresh tea.
History & Background
The Pu'er tea mountains in southern Yunnan have been cultivating tea for over 1,700 years. Ancient tea trees, some over 1,000 years old, still produce leaves for premium Pu'er tea. The tea was compressed into cakes and transported along the Tea Horse Road to Tibet, where it was traded for horses. The region remains China's premier Pu'er tea production area.
